“Warning ⛽️ Indicators”

𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸: “Warning Indicators”

𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,

As I drove home from work today, I peeked over my steering wheel to check for my gas ⛽️ gauge. Fortunately, it was on half a tank! #Winning 🤣

In college, I remember hearing my Mom reminding us to never let our gas tanks get below half a tank. So, as I continued driving, I thought about the consequences of driving with little to no gas. My Dad would always say your vehicle is just filtering trash at that point. Lol. But I knew exactly what he meant.

What are the signs of low fuel? Well first, our vehicles come prepared with a warning ⚠️ light. I don’t know about you, but I’ve ignored it plenty of times. But second, in my opinion, the car seems to drive a bit differently with low fuel. The take off isn’t as powerful. Another warning sign is hesitation when cranking up. Where am I going with this?

Look at the Book of John, Chapter 6 at verse 35. John 6:35 reads, Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst”.

When we are followers of Jesus Christ, our spiritual tanks respond differently as well when our spiritual belly’s are malnourished. We also receive warning indicators when we are running low on biblical nourishment. How do we stay “Full” as Christian’s?

  1. By staying in a consistent position of reading our bibles daily.

  2. Forming a healthy lifestyle comprised of prayer and purpose.

  3. Fasting. I often fast and sacrifice something pleasurable to me, to hear from God.

I often ask God to decrease me so He may fill me with His presence, with His goodness, and with His peace. So Lady Monica, how do I know when I’m running on empty (spiritually)? I’m glad you asked Sister and Brother!

Believe it or not, our spirits actually mimic our cars. God gives us slow and subtle warnings.

  1. Spiritual depletion, which looks like burnout.

  2. Lack of motivation when starting the day. (It’s hard to crank a dry tank).

  3. Hesitant in our faith. Where’s your push and your drive?

  4. Disconnection and distance. It feels like God is far away. (You ever see vehicles left on the side of the road after breaking down)? They failed to disconnect in one way or another.

When we start to feel separation from God, we tend to shut down. Well I’m here to tell you to break that cycle! Read the Word daily to stay energized. Pray daily to keep that fire 🔥 ignited. Fast and sacrifice from either food or things to deepen the bond between you and God. He loves you. But, He won’t force you to love Him back. Remember, His warnings to us are slow and subtle. Don’t ignore God’s warnings signs.

Father God in the name of Jesus, fill us up God with Your goodness. Fill us up with Your Joy. Fill us up with Your peace. Father I can’t speak for everyone, but I remain hungry and thirsty for Your righteousness. Father forgive us (me) for our sins and lead us to the Way that is everlasting. Help us Father to stay consistently connected to you so that we never run out or low on gas again.

It’s in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
