𝒯𝑜𝓅𝒾𝒸: “The Heart for Jesus”

𝒢𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒴𝑜𝓊,

I hope you are all doing well. With the current state of affairs, life has been difficult for so many people; believers and non-believers alike. The United States of America recently celebrated her Independence and her Freedom. While some enjoyed barbecues, family gatherings, a day at the lake, or even myself at a beach in Delaware, some lives were lost to violence. I’m not a political person at all, however, I made that point to make another one. During my personal study time in the Word of God, I was led by the Holy Spirit to a great biblical classic (the encounter of Jesus and the Young Rich Ruler). The focal scripture is found in Matthew 19: 16-22. It reads, “Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?

Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony,

19 Honor your father and mother, and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.”

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

This wealthy young man knew he wanted to spend his eternal life in the kingdom of God. What he was not expecting was that stinger of a response from Jesus Christ. Jesus said sell everything and follow me. Give what you own to the poor. Jesus was telling him that he would have to deny self. OUCH!! 🩹❤️‍

You know I often say this, but in my blogs, I’m ministering to my own self. Studying scripture allows an intimate and personal encounter to take place between us and God. I take the character out of scripture and put “Monica” in their place.

Monica what is splitting your heart from FULLY following Jesus? Monica what’s causing your split decision? Monica what are you attached to that divides your full commitment to Christ? Phewwww!! Honey Bunny! It got deep, fast!

So getting back to the lives lost, on a day that represents freedom in America, I thought to myself, where does your heart rest when it comes to Jesus Christ? Better yet, what position does your heart take in your soul affairs? Time is of the essence and none of us know the day or hour of our demise. How prepared is your heart?

You know what I love about the rich young ruler? He actually wanted to know how he could spend eternal life in Heaven. His issue was not wealth. His problem was that his heart was divided. 💔

Father God in the name of Jesus, we thank You for Your Grace. We thank You for Your Peace. We thank You for Liberty. Your Word says in 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.” Thank You God for Freedom in Your Son Jesus Christ. Without His sacrifice on the cross, we would not stand a chance.

Father God help us to become more Christ like. Father we know we will never be perfect, but God help us to walk in His ways, each day. Father God, I pray for every soul whose heart is split 💔. Father God give them Your strength in their weaknesses. Father God give me, Monica, Your strength in my weaknesses. Father God, when it’s all said and done, we will continually give You all the Glory, all the Praise, and all the Honor.

Its in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

P.S. If you are in need of prayer, go to the Contact tab and submit your prayer request. I will be sure to provide you a response and send you a written prayer.

May God continue to Bless You and May He continue to Bless America. 🇺🇸
