๐ฏ๐๐ ๐พ๐ธ: "Less of Me, More of You"
One of my favorite cuisines is soul food! I am a southern girl at heart and I totally overeat when I am in a traditional soul food setting. Harvest Table is a small, locally owned restaurant in my hometown of Augusta, Ga in which I am absolutely obsessed! The setting is a traditional buffet style. Customers can walk right in, pay in advance, and choose your table.
Unfortunately, there is just one downfall with this restaurant. There is an abundance of selections to squeeze onto that tiny plate! As embarrassing as this may sound, I once found myself having to remove the extra food I didn't necessarily need (at the moment) in order to have less food on the crowded plate.
Scripture says in John 3:30, "He must become greater, I must become less".
I have a confession to make: In 2020, I could have definitely lessened Monica! How many of you have reflected over this past year and thought, "I could have done things differently"? Well it's not too late! John admonishes us to be less consumed with us to give God more space to operate through our lives.
In Philippians 2: 5-8 it reads, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross".
It takes much discipline and self control to continuously stay in a humbling mode. But when we do, that's when God can use us most. Some people you encounter never heard of Jesus before you and never read the Bible. God wants to use you as a vessel to store a just a piece of His shine. We must have the mindset of Christ Jesus. Your eyes have been opened but you haven't seen anything. All of these years, you've had open eyes with blind vision. Ask God to open your spiritual eyes.
This year in 2021, I challenge each of us to decrease in the natural so God may have the increase in our spiritual lives. Watch the power of God work in you!
Father, in the name of Jesus, Your word says in Colossians 3, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory".
Father God we declare today that we will set our minds on things that are of You. Father we recognize and honor Jesus Christ who died so we may live. Father God just as Christ sacrificed His life for us, we decrease ourselves so we can be used to help other lost souls. Father reveal Yourself in us. We give You all the glory, all the honor, and all the power.
In Jesus name, Amen.
