๐ฏ๐๐ ๐พ๐ธ: The Cost of Betrayal
๐ข๐๐๐น ๐ธ๐๐๐๐พ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ด๐๐,
Forgive me, it has been several weeks since my last blog entry, however, I truly only write when I have been impressed upon by the Holy Spirit. And tonight, that's exactly what happened.
If you would pay attention to this one particular scripture in Mark tonight, we are looking at the words of Jesus himself. Because it is written in red, there is special emphasis on these words. Please take heed! In Mark 14:21 it reads, "The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."
To set this scene, I want to back up so a clear picture can be seen. Just before the (Last Supper) and merely hours before the death of Jesus, He and His disciples are having some of their last moments with Jesus.
Jesus is burdened down but yet knows what lies ahead. For the last three years, Jesus has ministered, prayed, taught, performed miracles, laughed with, cried with, and tired himself with twelve specifically chosen men.
They were:
1. Bartholomew
2. James, son of Alphaeus
3. Andrew
4. Judas Iscariot
5. Peter
6. John
7. Thomas
8. James the Greater
9. Philip
10. Matthew
11. Jude Thaddeus
12. Simon the Zealot
Jesus loved these men as Brothers. After all of the trials, tribulations, challenges and experiences, it seemed that each and every one of them would go to bat for Jesus. Can you imagine someone in your life who you grew extremely close to, whom you confided in, and stood side-by-side for more than 1,000 days with turn their back? Especially when it most counts! The bond would seem unbreakable. Right?
But then there's #4 on the list, Judas. For 30 pieces of silver, Judas betrays Jesus. Today 30 pieces of silver is equivalent to $20.00.
Judas reveals Jesus movements and where He could be arrested for the false blasphemous charges against him. Judas KNEW EXACTLY who Jesus was. And yet gave Him up for something temporary. He was there nearly every moment of Jesus' ministry! In the end, when Judas witnessed a faulted death trial, he quickly regretted turning his back on Jesus. He lost his God, his money, and his life.
Why did Judas give up Jesus? Was it to save his own skin? Was it because he was afraid? Or did he need the money? In 2021, we still may not fully understand. Was it worth it to betray an innocent and slain Lamb? One who you know is God himself? No. We learn later in Matthew 27:4 Judas confesses that he betrayed innocent blood....
My question for you today is what are you betraying Jesus for? Is it money? Or politics? Or people? Is it social media? Is it the wrong soul ties? Is it a false ministry? Is it illegal employment? Remember this- all of those things and plenty more are temporary.
In Jesus only, can you have eternal life. Judas' betrayal of Jesus led to his suicide. However, it is my hope for you to live a life rich in Christ Jesus.
As I pray, I ask you to sincerely and wholeheartedly focus on what's important to you. Matthew 7:13-14 says, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it". It means everyone won't make it into Heaven. God is looking for hearts that long after Him. Hearts that want to change. Hearts that don't mind standing out from the crowd. He wants your whole heart.
Father in the name of Jesus, I pray for every single soul reading this entry tonight God. Father I ask that You remove and block everything that's getting in the way of their relationship with You. If it's a person, move them out of the way. If it's an employer, lead them to a different career path. If it's social media, I pray for a supernatural release of that stronghold that only You can break. If it's addiction, I pray for their cold-Turkey recovery in the name of Jesus. Whatever their 30 silver coins is, I pray their deliverance and breakthrough. I pray God that the souls reading this turn and return their hearts back to You, which is through Jesus Christ.
Amen.
